Why I’ve been gone//+ I hit 1k on instagram?!

Copy of why hello there!

Welcome back to my itsy bitsy corner of the web! Or if your new here, thanks for checking out my blog. You can find more about me here!

If your one of my regular visitors you might have noticed that I haven’t posted for quite a while. Recently I have of been in a creativity block, I have been a bit unmotivated and it has been a little harder to come up with unique and interesting blog post ideas. You may have even noticed that some of my more recent posts have been a little jumbled and not as long as my other posts. It has been pretty refreshing to take a break from my blog, It has helped me focus on some of my priorities like studying more, but I have really missed blogging and sharing my thoughts with you guys. So I’m happy to say that I am back.

I am going to try to post twice a week; Tuesdays and Fridays, like I tried to do before. Tuesdays will have a more bookish theme and Fridays will have more of a lifestyle theme. And I will try to keep you guys updated by posting on my Instagram @elysianartiste.

Speaking of Instagram, I recently hit 1k+ followers which I am sooo thankful for. As a teen blogger, It can be easy to get discouraged and feel like your content is trashy, So it means so much that 1000+ people appreciate my content and enjoy it! I honestly never imagined I would get that far. I am really thankful that my parents entrusted me with Instagram because they aren’t really huge fans of social media, so I am so grateful that they allowed me to use it.

If you are allowed to use Instagram, I really recommend you follow my page @elysianartiste, I post daily, and I have fun quizzes and stuff on my story and its easier for me to engage with my followers.

If you arent allowed to use Instagram I totally feel you. It took many tries to get my parents to agree to let me use Instagram as another platform to express my creativity. If you really want Instagram, I recommend setting aside a time to talk to your parents when they are not busy or working on anything else. Explain why you want it, The benefits of having it, and ask what the boundaries are and If they do allow you to have it, respect the boundaries. Once they see you obeying the boundaries it allows them to trust you more and eventually they will give you more freedom.

So yeah, short story long that’s why I have been gone and not so active with my posting. I am really excited to get back into the blogging world. I have a bunch of great content that I cannot wait to share with all of you!

Thanks for reading today’s blog post! I am excited to get back into the blogging world!

keep smiling, ava

recent rambles // feat. books, tom holland, puppies and more

Copy of why hello there!

Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! And if you’re new here, WELCOME!

Today’s post is going to be a new monthly series where I share some recent rambles, things that I have been pretty excited about.

I also will continue my recent reads series every other Tuesday!

lets get started

+books

So I haven’t had a bunch of time to read books because I have been busy with a few things, but I was able to read a few.

Chasing Jupiter by Rachel Coker                    Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, #1)
( I LOVED SHADOW AND BONE! for some reason I kinda liked the Darkling. He just seemed like a brooding and alluring guy that could wear a trench coat)

Archenemies (Renegades, #2)

I reread this to prepare for SUPERNOVA! Tbh, I cannot wait for this series to end, because it’s putting too much pressure on me emotionally. MARISSA JUST TELL ME: DO ADRIAN AND NOVA END UP TOGETHER??

+tom holland

So recently, I got kind of obsessed with these tom holland memes.

This reminds me of my youngest brother – he’s always twirling about.

He’s afraid of spiders and it’s so adorably funny.

He loves puppies! I wish I had a puppy… 😦

+life

+I am really excited because I am starting a blog design Business, which will hopefully launch by Memorial Day. I am working on one of my first official client’s website right now!
+ I am trying to work on writing some of my novels

+ I have been trying to teach myself some more piano notes so that I can play more songs. Me and one of my friends (who’s also one of my youth leaders) have been leading worship at our Youth group and learning more piano notes will make it easier to play more songs.

+ I am going to be entering the Intermediate group in band this fall, so I want to work ahead so I won’t have trouble with some of the newer notes.

So that was the first episode of recent rambles! I hope you enjoyed it!

chatty post-spring band concert

Why hello there! Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! I’m sorry I haven’t been too active on here and my socials. I have been really busy because last night was my bands spring concert!

This post is going to be a little different from my other posts. No graphics or anything really, just me talking about life and the concert and stuff. I didn’t really get to take any pictures so hopefully, it’s not too boring. 😀

so grab some popcorn or a snack and read the post!!

sping band concert

✧post concert✧

before the concert, we all went to a room to put our instruments together, warm up and make sure all our notes were okay. I play clarinet so It took me a little longer than some of the other kids to put together my instrument.

So there are three groups;

Beginners

Intermediate

and Advanced.

I’m in the Beginner group but in the fall I will be moving into the Intermediate group.

In my group, there are about 9 kids? Two Clarinets, (including me) Three Sax’s,(my brother) Three low bras, a trumpet (my lil brother) and yeet that’s all.

I’m kind of friends with everyone in the group, but my closest friends are Gaby and Gaby.

Yes, they have the same name. We were going to call one Brie and the Other Gaby but Its just really hard for me to keep track of names so I call both of them Gaby.

I am also close with Claire, she’s my fellow Clarinetist, we are the only clarinets. She’s a little younger than me and really sweet.

Then my brothers of course.

I’m not really friends with the low brass cliche that much, but one of the guys is my secret twin because we are born on the same day and the same year and we are both the exact same age, so YEET.

Yeah I dunno why I keep saying yeet so much, I just love it!

SO after that, we formed a line to walk onto the stage thingy, I guess I was the leader of the group which meant I had to lead everyone onto the stage which was terrifying.

The beginner band went first.

Even though this wasn’t my first band concert, I was very nervous because this time we had to stand up for solos and bow, meaning that the stand would no longer be able to hide my face and keep me anonymous so that no one had to know that I, Ava was the girl who kept squeaking on her clarinet.

Also sorry for this post being messy, I just really wanted to keep it simple and “chatty”

✧during the concert✧

So we all sat down, adjusted our stands (aka positioned the stands so that no one could see our faces)

The first song we played was called Buglers Dream, Its an Olympic anthem and sounds really pretty.

Then we had the first set of solos.

I did a solo which I was very worried about because it had a kind of difficult note in it.

I don’t even remember how it went because I think I played it too fast. oOf

Then we played engines of change, its a really cool song.

Then there was another set of solos, including the woodwind solo, (which I was apart of)

It was an adaptation of Erie Canal, which is actually a song I used to sing when I was little.

I HAVE A MULE her NAME IS SAL 15 miles DOWN THE ERIE CANAL.

Of course, it sounded way better than five-year-old me trying to sing

Then we finished with the song Bandroom Boogie. I felt really happy because everything sounded mostly good. We were playing real songs. Last year we played simple songs like Twinkle Twinkle and Mary Had a Little Lamb. I was so proud of myself because I had improved so much and I had overcome so big struggles I had with the clarinet.

Then the Intermediate and the Advanced played their songs and they sounded really awesome. Plus they had flutes and percussion so everything sounded more… magical?

then it ended,

✧after the concert✧

After the concert, there were some snacks and cookies and drinks out. My friends and I all congratulated each other and made vine references. I dropped my cookies. Twice.

YOU ALMOST MADE ME DROP MY CROISSANT *cookie*

IT was all fun and jolly. After a half hour of eating, talking about vines (and tom holland my precious spidey boi) we left.

The concert went really well, and it shows me that hard work and pushing through really has a great outcome.

My little clarinet has taught me so much these past few months and I love it a lot.

✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧

Thank you so much for reading my little chatty post, If you liked it please tell me, I think I would like to do this again. It’s so relaxing just typing up my thoughts and not worrying about making a “perfect and professional’ blog post.

✧do you guys play any instruments?✧ have you ever been in a concert? what’s your favorite instrument?✧

how to learn a language faster

Copy of why hello there!

Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! So if you didn’t know, I LOVE LANGUAGES. I am trying to learn French, Japanese, Korean and Swahili. I have only gotten far in French so far. So in today’s post, I wanted to share some tips on how to learn a language faster.

lets get started

One of my favorite ways to learn new languages is to use duolingo! Duolingo is a free app and website that helps you learn languages. I use this a lot and It really helps!

duolingo (1).png

Duolingo is fun and engaging and I really recommend it for anyone who wants to learn a new language Let’s move on to the tips!

  1. Study the language every day. Find little ways to use the words of your chosen language each day
    • Language learning is based on repetition — repeating something into your brain over and over again until you remember it. If you break too long between study sessions, you are much more prone to forget what you learned last time and you will waste valuable study time going back over what you’ve already learned.
    • You can cut down on this wasted time by studying every day. There are no miraculous short cuts when it comes to language learning — you just need to commit.
  2. Watch, listen, read and write in your chosen language. Immersing yourself in a language means doing all of the activities you would normally do in your native tongue, through your new language — whether that’s reading, writing or listening.

This is one of my favorite ways to learn languages because you don’t really have to do much work, you just listen or read.

  • Possibly the easiest thing you can do is watch television shows or movies in the language you are trying to learn. Try to avoid subtitles, as you will tend to rely on them. To make things easier, try to watch shows or movies whose plots you are already familiar with — like kids’ cartoons or dubbed versions of English movies — knowing the context will help you to decipher the meanings of words and phrases.
  • You should also attempt to read and write in your new language. Get a newspaper or magazine and attempt to read one article a day — looking up any words you don’t understand in your dictionary. You should also try to write a few simple things in your new language –whether it’s a pretend postcard or a shopping list.
  • Download podcasts or tune in to radio stations in your new language. This is a great way to immerse yourself in the language while you’re on the go. Not only does this help with your listening comprehension, but it also allows you to hear the correct pronunciation of common words and phrases.
  • Listening to songs in different languages is fun too!

3. Learn the alphabet of the language you are learning, if necessary. It will make it significantly easier for you and you will be able to read and pronounce words, which will help you memorize them with greater ease. Plus, it is better for you to be sounding the words out rather than looking at the romanization for the words.

4. Have fun! The most important part about learning a language is having fun and enjoying it! Try to use your skills to communicate with others online or have a penpal that speaks the language your learning!

I hope these tips helped you! thanks for reading!
