how to read more during the summer

Copy of why hello there!

Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! Today’s post is going to be all about how to read more during the summer without missing out on the exciting and warm summer days.

Let’s get started!

Read Outside:

A great way to spend some time outdoors is to read outside. Reading outside is really relaxing because you can enjoy nature and enjoy a good book.

☆Bring books with you everywhere:

The wonderful thing about putting a small paperback book into your bag is that you always have a chance to read. Waiting in line? Pull out your book. On a car ride? Pull out your book. Eating Lunch? Pull out your book. The possibilities are endless.

☆Audio Books:

Audiobooks are great for when you’re on the go during the summer. Whether your hanging outside, at the beach or adventuring in a new found city, you can always pop in your earbuds and listen to a great story.

☆Read graphic novels:

Graphic novels are fun and can be easily read in under an hour. Plus, lots of graphic novels have cute summer themes.

how to read more

Copy of why hello there!

Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! I am so glad you are here. If you didn’t know, I am a HUGE book lover and I love to read. This year, I have already read 50 books so far, which is kind of a lot! So in today’s post, I wanted to share my tips on how to read more books!

But before we get started I want to share some exciting news, My Friend, Jo from The lens and The hard drive and rebranding her blog and starting a new one!

Unfortunately, I was too busy to join her blog tour, but I recommend looking out for the blog tour posts because they look really interesting!

lets get started

1.use Goodreads!

Goodreads is a really great way to not only track the books you have read but also find new books. Goodreads is a little bit outdated, but I really love using it. I always find new books that I have never heard of and I can see what some of my friends are reading

2. Read different age-ranged books.

I think that it can be easy to get caught up in being too old to read certain books, but honestly your never too old to read a book. Just because you are a young adult, doesn’t mean you can’t read picture books. Just because you are a teen doesn’t mean you can read children’s chapter books. Sometimes when I don’t feel like reading a long and deep book, I read a book aimed for a younger person, because its easier to read than other books.

3. Try e-books

Now I am not a huge fan of ebooks but they are really great if you’re on the go. It’s great because you can have multiple books to read without having to take your books everywhere.

4. Audio Books

Audiobooks are awesome because you can listen to them almost all the time. On your way to work, while you’re doing school, while you’re working out, while you’re just going for a walk or anything else. Dramatized AudioBooks are really fun because they are filled with sound effects and interesting voices.

5. ReRead books

Rereading books counts just as much as reading a book you have never read before. I really like rereading books that meant a lot to me during my childhood and see what it means to me now. I also recommend reading books that you didn’t like before. Maybe now you can relate more to it, or it might make more sense.

6. Have fun

Reading doesn’t have to be boring. Make sure to read something that you like every once in a while and try to pick something fun and exciting to read!

This book broke me. It whipped my back in half and shattered my heart. I was expecting a happy ending and I got a sad one. This book made me cry, and not many books do that.

The story is about a girl named Stella and a boy named Will that has a condition called Cystic fibrosis (CF)

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. In people with CF, mutations in the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene cause the CFTR protein to become dysfunctional.
People with CF have to be at least six feet apart from other CFers or they could catch the bacteria and die. But of course, Stella and Will fall in love, which leads to a lot of distress for the readers.
Since the movie came out I decided to read it! It’s such an amazing book and I really recommend it for anyone who wants a sweet and sad read.

⭐Meet the Characters⭐

Stella: Stella is a smol and adorable girl who has CF. She is very positive and makes no second thoughts about taking her medicine and doing her treatments. She makes vlogs to help her stay content with her not so exciting life. All that changes when Will comes along.

(ISNT SHE ADORABLE??)

Will: Will is an edgy risk-taking artsy boyo that might as well wear a trenchcoat. He doesn’t care at all about taking his medicine or doing his treatments. He’d rather just die instead of living in the constant pain of his illness, but when he meets Stella everything changes.

(his hair tho, its beautiful)

Poe: Even though Poe is a background character, he still is a pretty great character. Sadly his story ends near the end of the book (my poor boy.) Poe is one of Stella’s CF friends. He and Stella are like siblings.

(couldn’t find a gif for Poe sorry)

“but it’s his smile that catches my eye more than anything else. It’s lopsided and charming, and it has magnetic warmth to it.”

⭐things I loved⭐

⭐I loved the writing style. It really seemed like it was a real teenager and it didn’t seem forced or stereotypical. I really felt like I could feel all the characters feelings.

⭐I adore the cover! It’s so beautiful the way the flowers form lungs. I JUST LOVE IT!

⭐will and Stella: they were just so adorable. It makes me so sad that they couldn’t be together. :C

⭐ Abby: Abby is Stella’s sister and she is so sweet *spoiler*  s h e  di e s

⭐ literally almost everything
⭐ will: aka cole sprouse ( in the movie)

⭐things I didn’t love⭐

⭐ the sad ending

⭐ poes thead (read backward if you want to find out the spoiler)

⭐ the sadness

⭐Some people said that it didn’t truly show what CF is and I can understand that it’s not that accurate

⭐ how the authors killed me with their writing

⭐literally almost nothing

⭐final thoughts⭐

this is an adorable book about two kids chilling in a hospital five feet apart so they won’t die. It’s beautiful and amazing. Even though the ending is sad, it’s still a great book.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a soft and adorable book.

lets get started

The Room Where It Happens: A book world you would put yourself in:

So for this, I just have to choose the lunar chronicles! It is such a great book series and the world is incredible!Image result for hamilton gifscropped-tobereadnova.png

The Schuyler Sisters: An underrated female character

This is a hard one actually… I think Winter from the lunar chronicles. I don’t think her story is developed enough for people to understand her character but she is really sweet and I think a lot of people forget about her.Related image

cropped-tobereadnova.png

My Shot: A character that goes after what they want and doesn’t let anyone stop them

For this, I am choosing Jonas from the giver. He leaves his ‘safe’ world to save himself and his baby brother(ish) from the fake community

cropped-tobereadnova.png

Stay Alive: A character you wish was still alive (SPOILERS!)

JEST ALL THE WAY! (from heartless.) HE WAS MY SMOL BOYO AND HE NEEDED TO STAY ALIVEEEEEEEEEEE. (also when my baby boy Philip died I was in tears ALL PHILIP WANTED TO DO WAS BE A POET just like Jest wanted to be a poet too also Philips original actor anthony is such a bean. Wow I am really getting out of hand here)
