redesigning popular book covers!+ bookish ramblings

Welcome back to my itsy bitsy corner of the web! Today I am going to be redesigning a couple book covers and chatting about a couple of exciting things happening in the book world!!

Cover One:

The first cover that came to mind when I first thought about redesigning covers was Caraval! I recently finished the second book in the trilogy and I am really amazed by the world-building. The original cover is pretty great, but I wanted to put my own spin on it!

Which one’s your favorite? I like them both! Onto the next cover!!

For the next cover, I decided randomly to do Warcross! I didn’t put any work really into this one. I was kind of lazy with it.

So yeah! I will probably do this again soon! With much better covers. The warcross cover was not as good as the Caraval cover but yeah!

So a lot of movie-related stuff is going on in the book world. Like, a lot. I know I am late on talking about this but I will still talk about it so this post isn’t super short.

First of all SIX OF CROWS AND SHADOW AND BONE ARE GETTING A NETFLIX SERIES!!

So I am really excited about this because I really have enjoyed those two series but I am also really worried about it. Apparently, the two separate book series, set in different eras are somehow going to be combined together? I’m really confused about how they are doing the show. The cast looks mostly amazing. I’M REALLY HAPPY WITH KAZ AND THE DARKLINGS ACTORS like its perfect.

There is a little controversy or should I say tEA about the casting, but we only focus on pOsItiViTy here in my wholesome little corner of the web 🙂

The next bookish news is that there may be a LUNAR CHRONICLES MOVIE!!

If you are one of my old readers you may know that I used to be very obsessed with the lunar chronicles. I wanted a movie really badly. It does seem a little too late for a movie, but I am still excited. I hope it’s not a fLop. I hope they don’t smash all the books into one huge flop of a movie because that would just be depressing.

As a self-proclaimed book dragon, I always harshly critique movies based off of books. I have read over 1000 books in my lifetime and a great percentage of them have been turned into movies and tv shows. A lot of my childhood favorite books have been turned into annoying children’s TV programs, including; Pinkalicous, Fancy Nancy, Llama Llama, If you give a mouse a cookie and many more.

Not every book to film rendition has been bad, there are plenty of amazing movies based on books like Bridge to Terabithia, Because of Winn Dixie, The Chronicles of Narnia series and even some newer remakes like Wonder. Those all were wonderful! But some of them are not good at all, Like the Percy Jackson movie! I haven’t even watched that one but from many friends and other book dragons I have HIGHLY avoided the movie.

In conclusion, I am very excited that a lot of YA books are being turned into movies/tv shows. I am a little worried about the execution, but I’m sure they won’t be that bad!

I have quite a hard time staying a top of my blog, so blog tags are definitely not my best suit. But they are quite a lot of fun once I get to them!

What was your favorite TV show/movie when you were a kid? Well, when I was from ages 0-5 I loved sesame street and the big comfy couch. Then when I was around 4-6 I loved Barney. I loved stuff with puppets and interactive dancing and stuff! Then when I got a little older I started to like my little pony, but then I stopped watching it because of the “magical witch-craft” So yeah, I hope that equals an answer?

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? This is a real tough one. I think everyone should either create their own kind of art or read a book. I don’t know which one to choose so I will go with a combination of both. (if that’s allowed?) Oof 😀

What do you think is the best way to start the day? With a warm cup of tea. Tea is refreshing and cleansing and quite delicious!

What is one of your favorite smells? The smell of apple cider or honey OR PEPPERMINT.

If you were suddenly put on a stage and told to deliver a speech, what would you talk about? Hmmmm maybe my original characters and how books are best friends.

Do you think Wikipedia is a reliable source? Uh Maybe.

What’s the worst advice you’ve ever received? To stay calm, even though everyone knows I can NEVER STAY CALM.

What age would you like to live to? around 80…?

What do you want carved on your gravestone? Ava was an artsy bookish queen that obsessed over the man on the 10 dollar bill. Just kidding. I would probably want, Ava the sweetest creative daughter.

October was an amazing (stressful), fun (painful) and a nice warm month!

I love October (BECAUSE ITS MY BIRTHDAY MONTH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET) because its such a sweet month (PERFECT FOR READING AND DRAWING HAMILTON FANART) the leaves just fall and fill the autumn air.

But sadly October has to go…

How to survive that dreadful time of the month

Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! Today I woke up feeling nice and happy until A HORRIBLE THING HAPPENED. My period hit me. THE HORROR THE HORROR…

So I decided to make a post to help all my gals out there who have painful periods! (hopefully, it won’t trigger anyone.)

Let’s get started!

Stop eating junk food! This can be very hard because on your big P you probably have cravings for everything in the whole world. But once you eat, it makes the pain hurt more. Avoid starchy foods with carbs and salty stuff. Ditch the cereal for a morning smoothie or yogurt! Smoothies not only taste delicious but they can open up your immune system if you use certain fruits!

Look at period gifs and memes! Believe me, this helps! It feels so good to get a little laugh out and see that every girl relates to you! There are so many funny period memes online and it’s JUST HILARIOUS. I recommend being careful while searching online because there are some of the things that may come up but otherwise it pretty fun!

Drink lots of water! Keeping yourself dehydrated during periods can lead to cramps and discomfort. Drinking at least 9 to 10 glasses of water a day during your period helps in fighting the bloatedness as it flushes waste out of your system.

RElax and DON’T STRESS. As hard as it is to stay calm, overreacting and being stressed can make your cramps hurt more. Try to stay positive!

Try to stay positive and have fun! Even though life may be hard, doesn’t mean you can’t find a positive solution! I made a post about a lot of things you can do during the summer, some of these may help you enjoy this time of the month. And maybe it won’t be as dreadful as you expected!
