redesigning popular book covers!+ bookish ramblings

Welcome back to my itsy bitsy corner of the web! Today I am going to be redesigning a couple book covers and chatting about a couple of exciting things happening in the book world!!

Cover One:

The first cover that came to mind when I first thought about redesigning covers was Caraval! I recently finished the second book in the trilogy and I am really amazed by the world-building. The original cover is pretty great, but I wanted to put my own spin on it!

Which one’s your favorite? I like them both! Onto the next cover!!

For the next cover, I decided randomly to do Warcross! I didn’t put any work really into this one. I was kind of lazy with it.

So yeah! I will probably do this again soon! With much better covers. The warcross cover was not as good as the Caraval cover but yeah!

So a lot of movie-related stuff is going on in the book world. Like, a lot. I know I am late on talking about this but I will still talk about it so this post isn’t super short.

First of all SIX OF CROWS AND SHADOW AND BONE ARE GETTING A NETFLIX SERIES!!

So I am really excited about this because I really have enjoyed those two series but I am also really worried about it. Apparently, the two separate book series, set in different eras are somehow going to be combined together? I’m really confused about how they are doing the show. The cast looks mostly amazing. I’M REALLY HAPPY WITH KAZ AND THE DARKLINGS ACTORS like its perfect.

(i love how epic this photoshoot is like wow it’s intense they are all just staring into my soul.)

There is a little controversy or should I say tEA about the casting, but we only focus on pOsItiViTy here in my wholesome little corner of the web 🙂

The next bookish news is that there may be a LUNAR CHRONICLES MOVIE!!

If you are one of my old readers you may know that I used to be very obsessed with the lunar chronicles. I wanted a movie really badly. It does seem a little too late for a movie, but I am still excited. I hope it’s not a fLop. I hope they don’t smash all the books into one huge flop of a movie because that would just be depressing.

As a self-proclaimed book dragon, I always harshly critique movies based off of books. I have read over 1000 books in my lifetime and a great percentage of them have been turned into movies and tv shows. A lot of my childhood favorite books have been turned into annoying children’s TV programs, including; Pinkalicous, Fancy Nancy, Llama Llama, If you give a mouse a cookie and many more.

Not every book to film rendition has been bad, there are plenty of amazing movies based on books like Bridge to Terabithia, Because of Winn Dixie, The Chronicles of Narnia series and even some newer remakes like Wonder. Those all were wonderful! But some of them are not good at all, Like the Percy Jackson movie! I haven’t even watched that one but from many friends and other book dragons I have HIGHLY avoided the movie.

In conclusion, I am very excited that a lot of YA books are being turned into movies/tv shows. I am a little worried about the execution, but I’m sure they won’t be that bad!

hello autumn! feat. where i’ve been, what i’ve been up to and goals for autumn!

Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! I hope you all are having a lovely day! Before we start today’s post, I just want to say sorry for not consistently posting! I really miss blogging and I hope I can get more consistent. 🙂

But enough of my rambling! Happy first day of fall!

If you hadn’t noticed, fall is my favorite season! Not only is it my birthday season, but it’s filled with beautiful colors, lovely smells, and delicious treats. I love wearing sweaters and boots and scarves and crunching on leaves everywhere I walk!

So I haven’t blogged since early August, which is kind of a long time ago! A lot of stuff happened since then and one of my favorite things I did in August was my trip to Florida! My parents surprised my siblings and me with a trip to Flordia. We went to Discovery Cove and got to swim with dolphins and go snorkeling. We also went to Sea World and got to see Orcas and other sea creatures, And I went on a few thrilling rides with my Dad and one of my brothers.

Oh, and I met my childhood superheroes, at there Seasame Street themed play park section. Yes. I, Ava who is terrified of most costumed mascots, was not afraid to hug a bunch of furry monsters. And they even had a Theatre with musical parodies!

That was one of my favorite things I did that summer!

7 fun things to send to your penpal

I have recently gotten into the hobby of penpaling. I was supposed to have only three, but now I have ahem seven.

Having a penpal (or more) Is an amazing way to make new friends and meet new people and learn about others lifestyles and cultures. Penpaling is also great for people that want to disconnect from online and go back to paper. Plus if you have really generous penpals you might even get goodies. (my favorite part) But don’t get your hopes up xD

So in today’s post, I will share with you guys a few things you can send to your penpals!

If you are looking for a penpal and have nowhere to look you can go to this awesome (and safe website) called globalpenfriends. Or you can comment down below that your interested and maybe someone else will reply and ask to be your penpal.

For right now I am closed for new penpals because I already have way tooo many. But I am open to being e-pals if you want.

But now, let’s get on to the post.

The first and most basic thing to put in your penpal letter is a letter.

Even if you only send a letter, you can jazz it up and make it cute and super special! Doodle, add quotes and use fancy fonts!

2. Send washi tape.

Washi tape is cute and adorable, and if your penpal is a crafty artsy person I am sure they would appreciate some. You can wrap it around a stick, tag or piece of paper.

3. Art

Art pieces are really cute and simple. Draw something your penpal loves like ducks or sunflowers.

4. Scraps

When it comes to penpaling, sending cute scraps of paper or extra washi and stuff Is great! You can use scraps to make collages and if your penpal is creative they will probably find a way to use it.

5. Candy, Tea, Snacks

Packaged objects like tea and candy are great and fun to send to your penpal. I always send my penpals tea bags so they can drink it while reading my letters!

6. envelope art

Envelopes can be transformed into beautiful masterpieces. I try and usually fail, but there are some really pretty things you can do!

7. Things your pen pals have mentioned

Has your penpal mentioned that they wanted pins? Maybe you can make one for them. Make thinks based on your penpals personality or things they like and want.

why hello there!

❀greetings and salutations!❀

❀Welcome back to my itsy-bitsy corner of the web! Today I’m going to be doing a DRAW WITH MOI!❀

Let’s GET STARTED❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀

First of all, I’m starting off with a BLANK PAGE. Thankfully Mr. Artists Block didn’t stop by for a visit, but time will tell. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (sadly I forgot to take a picture of the blank page)

So I took out most of my art supplies so I can have literally every shade I needed. I’m using my watercolors, Prismacolor pencils, and my ohuhu markers.

❀LET’S START DRAWING❀

So I’m forcing myself to draw more male beans (adorable male kiddos with fluffy hair to be exact) because I am not really good at drawing males so I just made a page to draw them all. So I’m starting off by making a sketchy circle with my yellow colored pencil.

Now I’m adding what I call guidelines for the face and adding more shape to the face.

Now I am adding the neck and the shoulders. I am not that good at drawing shoulders, because whenever I draw shoulders, one shoulder is poking out in an awkward position and it just looks weird.

So, sadly the shoulders didn’t turn out that good. 😦 But it still is a pretty good drawing I suppose.

ITS OKAY YOUR PERFECT THE WAY YOU ARE! This is why I don’t usually critique my art in front of them, surprisingly, they have feelings too.

Alright So I drew a shirt, and This is what I call a headshot, I’m not drawing full bodies because that is EXTREMELY HARD. I usually accidentally give them curves because I’m so used to drawing girls.

SO I GAVE him FLOOFY HAIR!

So I colored in the shirt with my yellow watercolor.

Sadly the camera’s battery died so I wasn’t able to photograph the rest of my drawings drawing process, BUT YOU CAN STILL ADMIRE THE BEANS because after it was done charging I took some pictures of them.

I gave all of them cat ears because it’s super adorable.

Then I made some stickers! (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧(ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

Basically, I put a bunch of label stickers next to each other and drew a smol bean.

I colored him in!

Cut it out with the only scissors I could find -_-

Put masking tape over it so the paper would be glossy.

AND THEy WORK

Last, of all, I decided to draw a bean that wasn’t so pastel.

Ahem, this is why I don’t draw full body males because I always accidentally add a curve XD.
